Trick or Eat 2009 proved that we can make a difference.  In one night we collected enough food to provide 165,500 meals!  You should check out the video we just posted on www.trickoreat.ca - you might just recognize some of the faces you see.  :)

Our efforts come at a much-needed time.  Yesterday, Food Banks Canada released its Hunger Count 2009 report.  Everyone was expecting to see an increase in food bank usage because of the recession - but no one expected an 18% increase!   Nearly 800,000 people are being assisted each month, with 72,000 of them being first-time visitors.

Actions - small and large - are how we will end hunger in Canada.  In each edition of End Hunger Now! we profile four that you can take.

Rwanda: Where Souls Turn to Dust

Um'Khonde Patrick Habamenshi was appointed Minister of Agriculture for Rwanda in 2003.patrickhabamenshi.jpg

In his book 'Rwanda, Where Souls Turn to Dust: My Journey from Exile to Legacy' he bares his soul and shares with us his life in his home country and the experience of moving to Canada where he now resides.

He is donating 50% of the royalties from the sale of his book to Meal Exchange because we share the belief that indifference is unacceptable - that no one should have to go hungry.

Visit www.rightyourlegacy.ca to purchase the book and read more about his efforts to address food insecurity.
